CBD / Cannabidiol

CBD does not usually create a THC-style high—but that does not make every CBD product effective, safe or legal.

Will it get you high?Usually no
Can it interact with medicines?Yes
Are wellness claims proven?Often not
UK food statusNovel-food rules apply

CBD and anxiety: what does the evidence actually show?

People frequently search for CBD as an anxiety remedy, but shop-bought CBD should not be presented as a proven treatment. Research depends on the exact preparation, amount and setting; a testimonial or product review cannot establish a medical benefit.

What to check before buying

  • Clear total CBD and amount per serving
  • A batch number and recent independent certificate of analysis
  • Ingredients, warnings and seller details
  • Whether an ingestible product appears on the FSA public list
  • No promises to cure, prevent or treat anxiety, pain or disease

Delta-8 THC

Delta-8 is intoxicating. Calling it “diet weed,” “legal THC” or a harmless hemp product leaves out the most important details.

Intoxicating?Yes
Strong human evidence?Limited
Often chemically converted?Yes
Safe UK legal alternative?Do not assume so

Delta-8 THC is a psychoactive relative of delta-9 THC. It is sometimes marketed overseas as a milder legal alternative, but that description is misleading in the UK.

Potency, contaminants and reaction by-products can be uncertain in poorly regulated products. Do not drive or combine it with alcohol or other intoxicants.
